Animal portrait commissions

They’re more than pets to us, they’re our family. As a classically trained artist, I offer custom portraiture of these beloved companions — using traditional methods that capture the depth of emotion and personality in each and every animal. Whether you are commissioning for yourself or a loved one, these fine art paintings will last a lifetime and be a treasured memento for years to come.

Read on to learn more about the commissioning process.

How it works

Commissioning artwork can feel like a big investment and an opaque process. That’s why I try to be as transparent as possible about what you can expect from the process and keep my commissions priced to be accessible, without sacrificing quality.

The process

First, fill out the form below with more information about your commission request. I’ll get back to you within a week about whether I can take on your project along with the estimated timeline. I’ll also confirm the budget and request a deposit (half of the total cost). I accept PayPal and Venmo.

Next, I’ll ask you to send me a selection of reference photos of your portrait subject. The more the better, so I can select a reference that will translate best into a painting (I’ll also send you some tips for selecting a good reference photo). If you have a specific photo you would like me to use, just let me know!

After I receive your deposit, I’ll get started on your painting. Once I have a good start, I’ll send you an email update with a photo of the in-progress painting. If everything looks good, you’ll pay the remainder of your invoice and I’ll complete the painting.

Once the painting is finished, it will need to dry for about 14 days before I apply a protective varnish and then ship it to you. I’ll email you tracking information along with a picture of the final portrait.

After that, I hope you’ll keep in touch! I love to see pictures of paintings framed and hanging in their new home, and of course always love to see the animal subjects with their portraits.
